SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) is an advanced 3D printing technology that fuses nylon powder using a high-power laser—without support structures, offering complete design freedom. The resulting parts are strong, lightweight, and resistant to heat, chemicals, and wear. Ideal for functional prototypes, mechanical parts, and industrial applications where strength and precision are essential.

Our SLS 3D printing service produces parts with fine details and complex geometries, ready for use in engineering and manufacturing applications.

At Capib.ro, we use the Formlabs Fuse 1 printer with PA12 powder—for parts with high mechanical strength, excellent dimensional accuracy, and superior chemical resistance.

How it works:

Sintering — The laser beam melts and fuses the powder particles according to the digital model.
Stratification — The platform lowers, and a new, even layer of preheated powder is applied over the previous one.
Cooling and Cleaning — After 12–24 hours of controlled cooling, the part is removed and cleaned.

What is SLS and MJF 3D printing and what is the difference between them?+

We use SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) and MJF (Multi Jet Fusion) industrial technologies to produce strong, precise parts without support structures. SLS sinteres nylon powder using a laser—ideal for complex geometries. MJF uses fusion agents and heat to produce more uniform parts with consistent mechanical properties. MJF is faster for mass production, while SLS offers greater design flexibility.

What materials are available for SLS and MJF?+

We primarily use PA12 (Nylon 12) — which offers high mechanical strength, flexibility, and dimensional stability, along with excellent resistance to wear, impact, and chemicals. For MJF, we also offer PA12-GB (with glass beads), which provides increased rigidity and stability—ideal for fasteners and precision parts.

What applications are suitable for SLS and MJF?+

Functional prototypes, product housings, mechanical components, snap-fits, replacement parts, and finished products. Ideal for the automotive, engineering, automation, product design, and electronics industries—where durability, precision, and design freedom are essential.

SLS achieves ±0.20–0.30 mm. MJF delivers ±0.20 mm with consistent accuracy across the entire part—consistent mechanical properties and a cleaner finish compared to SLS. We optimize orientation and print parameters for precise and repeatable results.

Is SLS or MJF suitable for functional parts?+

Yes, they are among the most suitable technologies for functional parts due to their high mechanical strength, isotropic structure, and lack of support structures. PA12 nylon offers 48 MPa tensile strength and heat resistance up to 175°C—it can be used in real-world operating environments.

What is the finish of SLS and MJF parts?+

SLS parts have a fine, slightly textured matte finish—natural white, paintable in black or custom colors. MJF parts have a consistent matte finish in gray, paintable in black. We also offer post-processing—sandblasting, smoothing, painting, or special treatments.

Do you need supports in SLS or MJF printing?+

No—the unused powder supports the part during printing, completely eliminating the need for support structures. This allows for complex geometries, internal channels, snap-fits, and moving assemblies, all in a single print.

What is the maximum size of parts printed using SLS/MJF?+

SLS — up to 440 × 440 × 450 mm. MJF — up to 380 × 380 × 280 mm. For larger objects, we divide and assemble the parts to achieve the desired size.

What is the delivery time for SLS/MJF?+

Typically 1–2 weeks, depending on complexity and volume. For urgent requests, express options are available—contact us, and we’ll respond within 2 hours. You’ll receive the exact deadline before confirming your order.

Is MJF printing faster than SLS?+

Yes, MJF is generally faster and more efficient for high-volume production—it processes multiple parts simultaneously and delivers a cleaner, more uniform finish. For individual prototypes or complex geometries, SLS offers greater design flexibility.
